I too was given a diagnosis very many years ago and was blessed and lucky to find wonderful people who supported the decisions I made along the way.  My path was non-medical, obviously not for everyone, but what I am most grateful for are those who allayed my fears, saw me as a whole human being and not a set of symptoms.  This opened the way for healing to take place in body, mind and soul.  Having lost several of my dearest friends to cancer and supporting clients in their cancer journeys, I am convinced that emotional support and wise guides are vital to healing.

I am always honored to be a partner in and witness to those willing to meet their life and its demands full on. My experience of witnessing and supporting a close friend in her journey of living with cancer inspires me to support others living with cancer.

I feel particularly honored to share my practice with people affected by cancer.  My commitment to this work has been cultivated from caring for my mother and friends whose lives have been touched by cancer, as well as my desire to share mindfulness for the purpose of alleviating suffering and enhancing comfort.

As the daughter of a cancer survivor who has witnessed the lifelong impact that the illness can have on a life, on a family and on one's outlook, I appreciate the need for mental health services as a prescription for healing. In my social work practice, I help to nurture the spirit so that the body and the afflicted individuals have the energy required to heal.

I am a licensed independent Social Worker.  I have been a therapist for over 30 years and have worked with many people affected by cancer. I am trained in EMDR which is a very effective and efficient treatment for processing traumas big and small as well as anxiety and a sense of being “stuck” in life.

Distress is common in people with cancer and in their family members and loved ones resulting in a variety of symptoms including but not limited to anxiety, depression, and a sense of hopelessness and powerlessness. Mental Health counseling with a professional who has specific experience working with people with cancer can help one manage distress by communicating and coping with the range of feelings associated with a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
